| Transmissions are notorious for causing this type of noise. Make sure your shifter openings are doubled up with two (2) rubber boots. Also use some shredded foam in there to absorb and block the noise. Regarding rear diff bushings... rubber is still the quietest. Finally, tires can cause what is easily mistaken for a 'gear' whine. If you have any kind of abnormal wear, especially anything which causes 'feathering', it can set up a whine in the tires. gordo
